Rules for Livermore
Permits
We handle your Livermore roofing permit application and coordinate required City reviews and inspections. You won’t need to manage the permit application or City paperwork yourself. We obtain Livermore’s written permit-fee assessment for your reroof scope. We do not yet have a reliable current amount to quote here; we clarify the permit charges in your project budget before agreeing on a start date. ARS allows approximately one week for permitting; issuance is not guaranteed.
When the deck needs inspection
We arrange a deck inspection when new plywood is installed. Removing tar-and-gravel or membrane roofing also requires a deck check, whatever the replacement material. A composition reroof retaining solid sheathing can use the final-only route if it matches the permit conditions; we confirm the route before work starts.
Smoke and carbon-monoxide closeout
We coordinate the required smoke/carbon-monoxide check or the accepted owner-signed certification. If your signature is required, we provide the form and explain what is needed before final.
From the Livermore building department and our own project records. Rules updated October 15, 2026; permit-fee references reviewed October 11, 2026; detailed inspection guidance checked October 10, 2026. Fees change, so we confirm yours when we pull the permit.
Inspections
Inspections and booking
Deck and sheathing — We confirm and coordinate the applicable requirements. Composition tear-off: sheathing inspection when new plywood is installed; not required where existing solid sheathing remains. Removing tar/gravel or membrane roofing always requires a deck inspection, regardless of replacement covering. Other materials follow their own inspection list.
In-progress — Livermore’s composition-reroof sequence uses any required sheathing inspection followed by final. We confirm additional checks for changed materials, repairs, insulation or other permit conditions before covering.
Final closeout — Final inspection required. Residential reroofs also require smoke/CO inspection or an owner-signed Certificate of Compliance. We provide the form when that route applies and request the owner signature.
Scheduling — We use Livermore’s inspection-request page or 925-960-4430 by 11 p.m. the day before. We call 925-960-4445 from 7–8 a.m. for a one-hour arrival window. We book through these inspection channels; inspections are not live in the ACA permit portal.
