Rules for Albany

Permits

We handle your Albany roofing permit application and coordinate required City reviews and inspections. You won’t need to manage the permit application or City paperwork yourself. Albany’s FY2026/27 residential reroof base is $267.80. Application, General Plan, technology and state charges are additional; we confirm the assessed total when planning the permit payment. ARS allows approximately one week for permitting; issuance is not guaranteed.

New decking

When plywood is replaced, we arrange the nailing inspection before roofing covers it and include that pause in the installation schedule.

Inspection notice

We submit inspection requests at least three business days ahead; final can require five working days. We confirm the appointment before setting the tear-off date.

Recycling paperwork

We check the full project scope against Albany’s waste-program thresholds: construction or renovation valued over $75,000, or demolition-only work over $25,000. If covered, we manage the roofing waste-plan paperwork and closeout.

From the Albany building department and our own project records. Rules updated October 15, 2026; permit-fee references reviewed October 11, 2026; detailed inspection guidance checked October 10, 2026. Fees change, so we confirm yours when we pull the permit.

Inspections

Inspections and booking

  1. Deck and sheathing — We arrange plywood-nailing inspection after fastening and before roofing covers it. For a retained solid deck, we confirm Albany’s assigned tear-off and repair checks before work begins.
  2. In-progress — We confirm any intermediate or underlayment inspection with Albany before covering the work. The required stages depend on the permit; we do not assume a final visit is the only inspection.
  3. Final closeout — We request final when the permitted work is complete and other departmental conditions are cleared. We check the permit for energy-compliance documents needed at closeout.
  4. Scheduling — We call 510-528-5760 or email permits@albanyca.gov at least 3 business days ahead. A final may require 5 working days. We cancel by 9 a.m. on the inspection day.
