Rules for Pittsburg

Permits

We handle your Pittsburg roofing permit application and coordinate required City reviews and inspections. You won’t need to manage the permit application or City paperwork yourself. A February 2024 contractor invoice listed a $363 permit charge, a historical budget reference rather than a City receipt or current quote. ARS allows approximately one week for permitting; issuance is not guaranteed.

Tear-off inspection

We arrange tear-off approval before covering, followed by final. A composition-only weather or scheduling alternative needs the assigned inspector’s agreement and allows no more than 50% covering; we obtain that agreement before using it. It is not a tile-roof exemption.

Inspection access

We provide the required secured ladder and coordinate inspection access. We may need an adult present, permission to enter or pets secured; we explain the arrangements beforehand. You do not need to climb onto the roof.

From the Pittsburg building department and our own project records. Rules updated October 15, 2026; permit-fee references reviewed October 11, 2026; detailed inspection guidance checked October 10, 2026. Fees change, so we confirm yours when we pull the permit.

Inspections

Inspections and booking

  1. Deck and sheathing — For composition tear-off and replacement, we arrange Pittsburg’s Tear Off inspection after removing the roof and repairing damaged areas. We confirm approval before covering and ask whether new or repaired decking also needs a roof-nail check. The solid-deck exception for tile roofs does not apply to composition roofing.
  2. In-progress — Composition-only in-progress option is offered for scheduling/weather constraints: tear-off complete, sheathing fully nailed, and no more than 50% covered. We confirm this approach with the assigned inspector before covering instead of assuming it replaces the tear-off visit.
  3. Final closeout — Required after roofing is complete, including gutters and rain leaders that existed before the work, with required energy documents. We clear the issued permit’s other closeout conditions.
  4. Scheduling — We request through Accela, up to 24 hours ahead. Inspections run Monday–Friday except holidays, with windows of 8 a.m.–noon or 12:30–3:30 p.m. We call 925-252-4910 between 8 and 9 a.m. on inspection day to confirm.
