Rules for American Canyon

Permits

We handle your American Canyon roofing permit application and coordinate required City reviews and inspections. You won’t need to manage the permit application or City paperwork yourself. A July 2026 reroof permit was $351.84 plus $11.51 payment processing; this historical amount is not a current quote. ARS allows approximately one week for permitting; issuance is not guaranteed.

Replacement or overlay

We confirm whether your permit is for a replacement or an approved overlay. A reroof normally needs a roof-nail inspection and final; an approved overlay has final only. We keep any new decking exposed for its required check.

Inspection days

We book inspections through OpenGov for Tuesday–Friday; roof inspections are not offered on Mondays. We build those available days into the roof schedule.

From the American Canyon building department and our own project records. Rules updated October 15, 2026; permit-fee references reviewed October 11, 2026; detailed inspection guidance checked October 10, 2026. Fees change, so we confirm yours when we pull the permit.

Inspections

Inspections and booking

  1. Deck and sheathing — We confirm and coordinate the applicable requirements. American Canyon requires a roof-nail inspection before reroof decking and fasteners are covered. Overlay roofs are exempt from that stage.
  2. In-progress — The usual American Canyon sequence is roof nail, then final. We confirm any additional underlayment or flashing checks assigned to your permit before concealing that work.
  3. Final closeout — We request final after reroofing is complete. An eligible overlay requires final only.
  4. Scheduling — We request through OpenGov, in use since August 1, 2026. Inspections run Tuesday–Friday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., with none on Mondays. We wait for the scheduling email and confirm availability before arranging tear-off.
